Christine Lampard has spoken about her pregnancy for the first time on Loose Women on Friday, after announcing the news on Instagram the day before.
The 39-year-old presenter appeared absolutely overjoyed as she talked to the panel, saying she is 21 weeks along and ‘found out a while ago.’
She said: ‘I am anxious, nervous and superstitious. I always presume the worst,’ putting her faith in nature, but noting she ‘isn’t 18 anymore’.
Christine, who is married to footballer Frank, also 39, previously revealed she did not want to do IVF, preferring to see if she could fall pregnant naturally.
She said: ‘I wasn’t constantly doing a test. I thought, let’s see what happens, because I’m clearly not 18 any more.
‘It’s been the loveliest time between the two of us. I wanted to let nature be the referee.’
Christine said she felt like she could be pregnant before finding out for sure, saying: ‘My body did feel different, for no reason, couldn’t put my finger on it.’
‘I didn’t tell Frank I was going to do the test. He was away working. I took about seven or eight tests.’
The happy lady added: ‘It’s incredible, takes over your whole brain, all I’ve been thinking about.’
Christine is step-mother to Frank’s children from his relationship to Elen Rivas and she said they are thrilled about their news.
She said: ‘My step-daughters are excited.
‘I’ve told them that the baby can apparently hear voices at this point so they’re talking to my tummy asking them who its favourite sister is.
‘They want a girl, that’s their only situation.’
Revealing her relief over sharing the news, she said: ‘It’s nice to be able to breathe out. I was sucking it in.’
Before the show, Christine was last pictured out in London, nine days before making her pregnancy announcement – ensuring she was covering her tummy.
She held a small handbag over her stomach while running errands in Chelsea, where Frank spent 13 successful years at Stamford Bridge.
Opting for a low-key look during her appearance in west London on May 8, Christine sported a casual nautical striped T-shirt and cropped black trousers.
The presenter added to her look with a pair of vibrant red sandals, while limited make-up added to her subdued appearance.
Christine surprised fans after confirming her first pregnancy with father of two Frank, who was seen walking the family dog the morning after their big announcement.
The retired sportsman, now a BBC pundit, looked relaxed in a T-shirt and shorts as he chatted on his phone while walking his dog in west London.
Frank had previously revealed the news of Christine’s pregnancy in a family snap, along with daughters Luna, 12, and Isla, 10, from his previous relationship with Elen Rivas… as well as the family pooch.
He captioned the image with the words: ‘We have some exciting news we wanted to share with you. The Lampard family is growing!
‘My gorgeous wife @christinelampard is pregnant and we all couldn’t be happier!!!’
A source revealed to MailOnline that the couple told Luna and Isla the happy news on Monday, but said they don’t know the sex of the baby.
They said the girls were having fun trying to guess what it would be and have been coming up with names.
The news comes just three months after Christine confessed she would still love to have a baby with her husband Frank in the future.
The couple have been together for six years, but tied the knot with a lavish London ceremony back in 2015.
Speaking to The Mirror at the time, she admitted it would be ‘wonderful’ to fall pregnant, but gushed that she is more than happy being a step-mother to the former footballer’s two daughters.
She said: ‘If it happens, of course it will be wonderful. If not we have the two girls – and one is about to embark on her teenage years, so that is a whole other chapter about to happen.
‘That is honestly where our heads are at, and we just enjoy life as best we can in between.’
Having been with Frank for almost ten years, the Loose Women panellist revealed she was very close to the two girls – who are equally grateful to have Christine in their life.
Speaking about a birthday card she received from Isla earlier this month, she said: ‘She went on to say ‘I love you being my stepmum’ and so I started to cry. I’m proud I have that kind of relationship with them.’
Christine and Frank met at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2009, and went on to tie the knot in London just before Christmas in 2015.
The Northern Irish star has previously admitted the pair love life ‘as it is’, and are sick of people pressing them over when they will have children.
Talking to the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine last year, Christine admitted that she and Frank had no plans to start IVF – something many assumed of them, due to their ages – and will instead see if they will conceive naturally.
She explained: ‘I am always being asked when I am going to have a baby. Everyone seems to be fascinated by my body clock.
‘As far as I am concerned, my attitude is that I will wait and see what happens. I’m not pushing myself. I’m not getting stressed or unhappy. I’m a believer in what will be will be.’
However, she was firm in her view that the couple would not go down the route of IVF, as she does not want to put any strain on their relationship.
She continued: ‘[IVF] isn’t something we have thought about. I know friends who have torn themselves apart and jeopardised their relationship because going through IVF was so traumatic and I don’t know if I could do that to myself or Frank.
‘I’m not one of those women who was thinking about babies at the age of 18, and when I first met Frank it wasn’t on the agenda.
‘If it happens, it happens, but right now all is well in my world as it is.’
