Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash Over Her KKW Beauty Line

A well-known male beauty blogger has hit out at Kim Kardashian over a recent social media post, announcing an open casting for the reality star’s makeup line, KKW Beauty.

Taking to Twitter, James Charles – who was among the select few bloggers to be present during the launch of the beauty product earlier this year – called out the reality star, highlighting the ‘female only’ casting call that didn’t go down well with him.

“Sister @KimKardashian! There are thousands of boys in cosmetics who love you & I’m sure would be honoured to slay a photo shoot for you!” the 18-year-old blogger tweeted, adding, “This is disappointing.”

Although the tweet has since been deleted, Charles brought to attention an open casting announcement that was shared on the official Twitter account of KKW Beauty seeking only women models.

“Attention LA area beauties! Join our open casting call for a chance to be featured in an upcoming #KKWBeauty campaign. Details below!” read the post, which was followed by a notice “Calling all faces!”

“This call is open to all women 18+ (There is no max age limit),” Kardashian’s casting call mentioned.

While Charles, who also happens to be the first male CoverGirl (2016), was one of the first few people to react to the lack of inclusivity; his thoughts were resonated by other Kardashian followers as well.

Kim Kardashian© Getty Kim Kardashian “Why just women,” a Twitter user questioned in the comments section, while someone else shared, “there would be a lot of men who are in the beauty world who would love to do this.”

“Only Women though. What bulls**t,” a furious user tweeted.

“Is it really open if not all genders can go??” another critic chimed in.

“Just women? Feeling sorry for all of the male influencers/models out there,” someone else shared

Despite his disapproval of the non-inclusive casting call, Charles, continues to be a fan of 37-year-old Kardashian, whose latest beauty launches and fragrances have stirred quite a buzz among the influencers.

“Kim is a legend and personally one of my role models!” he shared shortly after in a second tweet. “I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to meet her 3x and she has always been SOOO nice and supportive, but I think it’s only fair that other aspiring boys in beauty have the same opportunities,” the blogger added, according to People magazine.

Earlier, lip-kit maven Kylie Jenner was at the centre of controversy, after she launched a collection of makeup brush as part of the Kylie Cosmetics. Beauty enthusiasts were infuriated over the high-pricing of the product.

“Are the new @kyliecosmetics makeup brushes made out of animal hair? Is that why they’re so expensive?? B—- I’M STILL DUMBFOUNDED!!!!” YouTube personality Jeffree Star tweeted.
